Experience Through Their Eyes

This has officially become our go-to pizza spot in San Angelo! The dough is incredible--perfectly chewy--and the sauce has that authentic, slow-simmered flavor you usually only find in big-city Italian spots. Fair warning: the slices are absolutely massive; one is more than enough to fill you up. Don't sleep on the salad either; it's fresh, crisp, and comes with a side of bread that's a treat in itself. I got extra cheese on mine and it was perfection. The interior is super charming, and the service is consistently top-notch. So happy that we discovered this place!

AMAZING FOOD!! The dooughhhhhhh is the ideal texture and taste. Absolutely love coming to Stango's Pizza. We ordered a Cesar salad. It had homemade croutons. The cheese sticks pictured were so delicious. We demolished the Stromboli that I didn't even get a picture of! It's massive and can feed two people. The servers there are always very sweet and have the absolute best intentions. It's a personal preference but a super pet peeve of mine is when you bring food and don't bring silverware. They brought the salad out first which is standard but, if it's someone's main you may ask if they want it before or with the meal. We were sharing the salad but, they only brought one set of silverware so, we had to share a fork and take turns eating it. Then all the mains came out but, we didn't have silverware. They had to go back in and get it. They make everything fresh so, you're waiting a few minutes as it is. So, when it finally arrives you're READY to eat but, can't. I also ordered a milkshake and it was very watery. A standard recipe may be helpful as well. I'm a ranch snob and the ranch tastes like basic store bought brand. A nice homemade buttermilk ranch would be a game changer. BUT aside from those personal preferences I will keep going back again and again and again!

Way cool space that's a Blue's era relic as well as a time warp from the 40s to the 80s. Back patio area is worth looking at for big groups and live music space. Inside is also neat. The Stango special is a terrific pie. I want to try the Hawaiian pie next. This place has so much history to it from the owners to the building itself. Beer and wine available for purchase also. The cookies at the counter are made in house also!

Stango's absolutely knocked it out of the park! We ordered a cheese, a pepperoni, the Stango's Special, and a mushroom pizza--every single one came out hot, fresh, and loaded with flavor. The crust had that perfect balance of crisp and chew, and the toppings were generous on all four pies. On top of that, the Shiner was ice-cold (exactly how it should be), and our waitress was nothing short of amazing--friendly, attentive, and on point the whole time. If you're in San Angelo and craving great pizza with great service, Stango's is the spot. Highly recommend!

Coming from Oklahoma, we weren't familiar with the area and happened to hear about this place from someone else. And it was great, the hospitality, the food, the cat named Stango that sits outside, and the atmosphere were absolutely amazing. We stayed for around an hour and a half just chatting and enjoying the atmosphere. Steve was amazing, genuinely such a kind soul and gentle person. He talked to me and my younger brother about his coin collecting and his pet cats. He is someone who truly cares about what he does. Definitely a place I will stop by the next time I'm down in Texas!!

Once I find a place I like, I stick with it and return. My wife, daughter and I took a trip to San Angelo for Thanksgiving break and we had an awesome time. From the picturesque and walkable downtown to Fort Concho and the amazing hiking at San Angelo State Park, I highly recommend this Texas town. One wouldn't expect to find New York Pizza in the middle of Texas, but that's what we found and more at Stango's. The best pizza I have had west of the Mississippi. We ordered the Stango's special (pepperoni, Italian sausage and jalapenos) I guess when in Texas, eat like the Texans. The crust was large, thin, crispy, yet chewy, with plenty of its homemade slightly sweet, savory tomato sauce and a generous layer of melted, high-quality mozzarella cheese. Every bite was delicious. The pizza was matched by the superb service and Steve is a nice guy who really loves his business and families and children. He gave my daughter some coloring materials and he displayed her artwork for all to see and gave her a cute Hello Kitty bag. I cannot recommend Stagnos enough. Thank you for making our first meal in San Angelo memorable. See you next November. Steve is Italian and from Connecticut, so you know the pizza is going to be awesome.
